TRACKING MARKERS
Westfork Dog Training offers two types of tracking markers, both designed to assist the handler in keeping his dog on the
exact path of the laid track while doing initial and refresher training.
It is extremely important in early tracking training that the handler knows the exact location of the track and that he only allow
the dog to continue when the dog is on the track. Allowing a dog to stray from the track will teach him/her that he/she
doesn't have to stay on the track but can veer off whenever he/she wishes to do so to check animal smells, etc.
The 18-inch tracking stakes are designed for both day and night
training. The stakes are painted with fluorescent orange paint and
have one or two strips of white reflective tape attached to them, so
that whether they are used in the day or night they are visible to the
handler. The stakes with the single strip of reflective tape can be
used to mark the location of the majority of the track. The stakes
with the double strip of reflective tape can be used to mark a turn,
an article, or some other unusual point in the track.
The small 3-inch markers are a fluorescent orange painted wooden clothspin.
The 3-inch markers have red reflective tape attached to both sides of them and
can be attached to high weeds, brush, leaves, branches, etc. The red tape,
when illuminated by a flashlight, appear as reflective red dots, making the track
easy for the handler to follow, without cueing the dog as to the location of the
track.
Eighteen inch Tracking Stakes are available in lots of 6, at a cost of $ 5.00

Three inch Track Markers are available in packs of ten (10), at a cost of $ 3.00,
plus shipping.
EMBROIDERED POLICE K-9 PATCHES
Westfork Dog Training has "Police K-9 Unit" patches available. These patches
are 2 1/2 inches in diameter and are navy blue with gold lettering.
They complement both blue and black uniforms.
